Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) is the quiet overachiever of the household. It’s inexpensive, simple, non-fussy, and somehow manages to have an almost ridiculous number of jobs. It can scrub your sink, freshen your fridge, deodorize your sneakers, boost your laundry, clean your kitchen, soften beans, tenderize meat, AND make your cookies rise. One humble powder can replace a surprising number of specialty products, which means >> less clutter, less packaging, and more room in your cabinet for the things you actually love.
